So in honor of this auspicious occasion, I'm hosting yet another contest here on Sink Me!... and no, it's not Les-Mis-themed. Well, it includes Les Mis but it's not JUST Les Mis. The idea is simple: find a quote you like from a musical (spoken dialogue or a song lyric) and pair it with a complementary picture from another musical. Oh, and it has to be funny. If you're not sure what I'm talking about, see the examples below...
This one features a picture from Phantom of the Opera (the 25th Anniversary production at the Royal Albert Hall) and a quote from The King and I. It is funny because
The quote here is from West Side Story, and the picture is from Fiddler on the Roof-- and in this case, Hodel and Perchik actually do get married, so I suppose it's not really relevant. Moving on.
The creme de la creme, in my humble opinion. :D This is really only funny because the quote at the top is from "Dancing Through Life," Fiyero's song in Wicked, and Aaron Tveit (Enjolras in the bottom picture) played Fiyero on Broadway and got an award for Best Stage Dancer of 2009 or whatever it was called, so... yeah. I think I over-explained that one.
But you get the idea.
Post your entries (up to four per person) on your blog and leave me a link in the comments of this post, or email your entries to missdashwood95[AT]gmail[DOT]com. I reserve the right to disqualify any entry that I deem family-unfriendly. The contest will be open until Friday, March 29th, at which time I'll choose ten finalists (or twelve if I can't make up my mind... or less than ten if there aren't enough entries...) and post a poll so y'all can choose the winner.
Happy mash-up-ing!

So excited! And, I've already got some ideas!
Hahaha... I should have KNOWN you would do something of the sort. :P But why are you so happy you could melt? It's not like you get to watch it today or anything, is it? ;P
As usual, the contest looks interesting but I shall not be able to think of anything to contribute... I never can. Sigh.
:P
Don't get your hopes up too high, dear. It's not all it's cracked up to be!
Oh, I protest! The movie is EVERYTHING it is cracked up to be, and exceeded even my die-hard, sky-high hopes.
My daddy so kindly bought a copy of the Les Mis DVD for me! My sister and I will have to wait to tomorrow to watch it for the first time.
I'll have to put my thinking cap on for this celebration! And hey, my game this week goes well with this musical idea! heehee :)
Emma Jane,
I beg to differ-- I still haven't seen it in its entirety but I've devoured every single clip and snippet on the Internet (of which there are many) and I have not been disappointed. Are you comparing it to the live show, or perhaps one of the concerts? Because they ARE different media, and you can't expect them to be exactly the same-- in some ways the movie might not be as good as the live versions but in other ways I think it's going to be better. :D
My dear Miss Dashwood,
I am not comparing it to the live show or one of the concerts- in fact, you may be quite surprised (and even shocked) to learn that I have not even seen a live version at all, and was not in any way aqucainted with it until I watched the movie, and perhaps that is the reason I did not care for it so. That, and I was not expecting it to be completely singing, and I found myself unimpressed with the cast's musical ablities, namely Hugh Jackman. So maybe I just disliked it because it was not what I had expected, but I hope you find it all that you hope it will be!
P.S. I am sorry to have been Johnny Rain Cloud! I realize this is one opinion in which I am singular.
SAW IT LAST NIGHT!!! Happy Dance!! Can't wait to hear your PO, dearie.
Emma Jane...everyone has the right to their own opinion! Don't feel bad...I hate the Phantom movie (the one with Gerard Butler), and I'm a bit of a loner there. That being said...I LOVED the Les Mis movie. :)
And just popping on to say, my Dear...THAT LAST ONE. I died. Like, fell on my face laughing. Do you mind if I put it on Facebook? LOVE LOVE LOVE. Aaron's face is perfect. LOL!!!!!!!
This was fun to do! Here is my link: http://eachandeveryhour.blogspot.com/2013/03/contest-at-sink-me.html
Thanks for doing this!
Emma Jane,
Of course, you're entitled to your opinion! I do hope you'll see it again sometime and enjoy it more, though. :D I definitely come from a biased viewpoint, though, because I've seen the live stage show as well as both concerts and as many bootlegs on YouTube as I can get my hands on (and read the book, too). It's one of my favorite stories ever, but I can see how if you didn't know the story, you might not be too impressed. The fact that it's all singing can throw a lot of people off.
And please don't apologize! I'm sorry if I sounded a bit harsh in my first comment-- I didn't mean to make you feel bad for not liking it. *insert apologetic emoticon* :)
Ally,
Ooooh, I'm so glad you liked the last one. I was thinking of you when I made it. ;) And yes, I agree, Aaron's face IS perfect. So is the expression on his face in that last shot, don't you agree?
:P
Of course you may share it any way you like!
THREE DAYYYYYYS MOOOOOOOOORE!
