I adore that part--especially since I've done similar things myself (rubbing out the e on the end of "tomatoe" once on a menu board when no one was looking :P, for one). I can't say I understand what you're talking about in that last sentence, dear... (because I refuse to acknowledge the very presence of any such parts.)
